The TakeOffs are from Kauai, Hawaii and perform instrumental music with two guitars, bass and drums. Lead guitarist Bill Mello introduces the songs and gives a brief history and other interesting tid bits as the night goes along. They do not sing during their performances. Ron Rhoades is the rhythm guitarist, John Hunt is the bass player and Conrad Mathews plays drums. They perform "vintage" surf music from the early 60's as well as contemporary surf music from a variety of artists and their own original instrumentals. They also feature some of the best Rock and Roll instrumentals of all time. The group has been together for 4+ years and performs weekly at The Sheraton Kauai Resort in Poipu Beach outside on the Point Terrace just a few yards from world class surf breaks. They also perform at a variety of "local" clubs and bars as well as weddings, conventions and banquets at the major Resorts. They can play for up to 4 hours depending on the event. They are a fun, easy going bunch of guys who have been musicians all their lives and have each lived on the Island of Kauai for decades. They would be perfect for your "beach" themed events.
